Health & Safety Officer (Fixed-Term | Tender-Contingent)
Location: Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal
Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract | Full-Time
Salary: R20,000/month
About the Role
We are recruiting a qualified Safety Officer to manage all Health & Safety compliance on an upcoming civil construction project in Ladysmith. This role is subject to the award of a tender currently in progress. H&S compliance is non-negotiable on our sites.
Important: This position is subject to the tender being awarded to our company. Salary is only payable once the contract is confirmed and work commences.
Contract Requirement: Shortlisted candidates will be required to sign a Fixed-Term Employment Contract confirming their commitment to work for our company. This contract is submitted as part of our tender documentation and is null and void if the tender is not awarded.
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Safety Officer on construction sites
Solid knowledge of OHS Act 85 of 1993 and Construction Regulations
Experience compiling and implementing site-specific H&S plans
SACPCMP registration as Candidate Construction Health & Safety Officer advantageous
Valid South African ID
Based in or able to commute to Ladysmith, KZN
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the site Health & Safety plan
Conduct daily safety inspections and toolbox talks
Investigate incidents and near-misses and compile reports
Ensure all workers are inducted and wearing correct PPE
Maintain all H&S registers and documentation on site
Liaise with the client's H&S representative
What We Offer
R20,000/month
Salary paid on the 30th of each month
Overtime at 1.5x rate (BCEA compliant)
